A Quiet Place is the perfect thriller movie. It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and leave you breathless. With an amazing concept, A Quiet Place tells a thrilling story making you wonder how long you have to wait for a sequel.
In a post-apocalyptic world filled with blind beasts roaming around that hunt by sound, a family must stay as quiet as they can in order to survive, but with a pregnant wife just a couple weeks away from giving birth and a deaf daughter, it won’t be easy trying to not make a noise. “If they hear you, they hunt you.”
‘A Quiet Place’ has an amazing concept that a couple movies have come out recently trying to make something similar, like ‘bird box’ and more recently ‘The Silence’, but none have come close to taking your breath away as much as ‘A Quiet Place’ did for me. The movie starts out in almost complete silence beside the sound of people moving around, so right away it tries to get you in the mindset of the characters and how they have to keep quiet for fear of the beasts that lurk around. When a character does make a sound though it makes you fear for their life because even the slightest sound can be heard by the beasts.
This being John Krasinski’s directorial debut makes me excited to see that Jim from ‘The Office’ can do more than just pull pranks on his coworkers and even more excited for what his next movie holds in store. ‘A Quiet Place’ didn’t have just a great story though, it was also very well shot and helped add to the horror aspect of the film whether it was the slow pans to show what a character was staring at or shots of the landscape making you watch out for any of the beasts. With very few characters in the movie, you had to rely on only a few actors to make sure they kept the story going and each of them did a great job portraying their characters, making you feel for them in each scene.
Overall I thought “A Quiet Place” was an outstanding thriller/horror movie and would be one to have other movies compared to. I give it a 9/10 and recommend it to anyone who loves horror.
